As a family law attorney, I have assisted hundreds of people through difficult times, with the compassion, intelligence, and hard work required to ease the transition into a new chapter of their lives. I am often asked if it is difficult to practice family law, given the extremely emotional nature of the work and the high stakes involved in nearly every case. My response is usually two-fold: First, that I am the product of what I consider to be a “successfully divorced family” whose parents made every effort to always put the best interests of my siblings and I first. Second, that my compassion for people who are in difficult positions and love for children makes family law extremely gratifying work for me. I have always endeavored to help people, and do that every day in my exclusively family law practice.
I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Indian Hill High School in 1995. Following four years at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, I took my dual degrees west to Tucson, Arizona, to attend the University of Arizona on a full scholarship, earning my Master of Science degree. While in Tucson, I worked for a premiere civil engineering firm as a mid-level project coordinator for five years before deciding to pursue my passion for law.
While attending Willamette University’s College of Law, I clerked for Legal Aid, the Law Office of Trent Whitford, and the Law Office of Tom Bostwick. After passing the Bar, I opened my own firm, King Law, LLC, practicing in the areas of family law, criminal defense, and estate planning. I joined Harris Law Firm in 2012, in order to focus my practice exclusively on Family Law. I look forward to assisting my clients with the creativity, energy, and drive required to achieve the best results in every case, whether through settlement or litigation.
In my spare time, I enjoy Portland with my wonderful family, including my young son, while trying to squeeze in time for snowboarding, traveling, gardening, cooking, and live music if I can get the chance.
