Professional Experience

My areas of focus are Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Public Records Law, Workers’ Compensation Defense and Contested Case hearings in front of state agencies including but not limited to the Oregon Medical Board, Oregon Board of Nursing, Oregon Board of Dentistry, Oregon OSHA and many others. Too often professional licensees of a state agency will find themselves the subject of an investigation or disciplinary proceeding and have no idea how the process works or what is at stake. The same is true for employers that are the subject of an Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection. Each investigation, disciplinary proceeding, or citation can have serious consequences and is unique. Few attorneys have the inside knowledge and experience that I gained while serving as an Assistant Attorney General. As an AAG I represented state agencies that regulate professional licensure as well as Oregon OSHA in enforcing the Safe Employment Act. Given the nature of these cases, I do offer my clients both a flat fee and hourly billing options.

As a former Deputy DA, I know the ins and outs of the criminal justice system. Some of the most complex cases are those that involve driving under the influence. In addition, there is an immediate suspension of your license for failing or refusing the breath test. The process from beginning to end is fraught with pitfalls for both the client and the state. One procedural misstep by the officer could result in the dismissal of charges against you. You only have a few days to challenge the suspension, thus immediate and effective legal representation is essential.
