Professional Experience
My first exposure to the law was when I joined a law magnet program in high school. The law became part of my everyday curriculum. Inspired by the words of our founding fathers, the constitution, and by the dignity in advocating for others, I graduated high school knowing I wanted to be a lawyer. I went on to college with that goal in mind. I graduated from Florida State University summa cum laude double majoring in Political Science and Spanish.
In law school, I worked as a research assistant, participated in the William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, and was an associate editor on the Journal of Law and International Affairs.
I made Oregon my home in 2017 and love being part of the Oregon community. I serve on the Washington County Bar Association board of directors and am a member of the Oregon Women Lawyers (OWLS). Before working at Harris Velázquez Gibbens, I worked as a judicial assistant for the Honorable Kathleen J. Proctor at the Washington County Circuit Court. Working at the courthouse gave me the opportunity to learn about many different areas of law. It also gave me a solid command of both the procedural and substantive issues that arise in a variety of cases.
I’ve dedicated my career to criminal defense and family law including stalking and abuse prevention matters. I have found that often, these two fields overlap. When they do, a clear understanding of how to navigate each, is necessary to resolving a client’s legal issues. I enjoy family law because I like helping people find solutions under what will likely be the most trying circumstances of their lives. My significant experience in working with local and state rules, has equipped me with the skill and knowledge to provide these types of excellent client-driven results.
While it has been many years since high school, I draw on that same inspiration that was first kindled in my youth to advocate for my clients.
Personal
I enjoy spending my free time with my family, teaching tricks to my 2 cats, hiking, and cooking.
