Professional Experience
I am a born and raised Oregonian, and feel very lucky to have grown up in such a beautiful state. I knew from a young age that I wanted to do work that helped people. In undergrad I studied psychology and criminology and was initially pursuing a career in forensic psychology, but my senior capstone at Coffee Creek’s women prison changed my trajectory to going to law school to study criminal defense.
While at Lewis & Clark law school I worked as a legal intern for a private defense attorney, the Community Law Division of Metropolitan Public Defenders and with Lewis and Clark’s Criminal Justice Reform Clinic. During those three-years the main focus of my work included post conviction relief such as expungements, driver license reinstatements, legal education to incarcerated youth at Oregon Youth Authority facilities, clemency, SB 819 petitions and representing an individual before the Oregon Parole Board for a murder review hearing.
Following law school I was a judicial clerk to the Honorable Benjamin Souede. This opportunity not only offered me valuable mentorship, but allowed me to work numerous trials ranging from low level misdemeanors to first degree murder. Learning all the inner workings of the court system and the meticulous procedures for all court proceedings and litigation paved the path to begin my journey as a criminal defense attorney. I am now lucky to be exactly that at Harris, Velázquez, Gibbens.
Personal
In my free time you will find me out in the sunshine (or rain) with my husky Milo, in the kitchen baking or out on the town trying a new restaurant.
